My very good friend, Karen, is hosting my baby shower. She is an amazing artist that loves to do watercolour and ink illustrations. Her dream is to become a childrens book illustrator...well, I think it's just a matter of time before someone snatches her talent up!
Look at this beautiful painting she did for my shower invitation!! I am so unbelievably thrilled with it...in My Opinion, this is my favourite illustration she's done to date!
I am getting SO EXCITED for my shower - I'm working on ideas today for little 'goodie' thank you bags for my guests. I think I'll hit up the Martha Stewart site for some inspiration!
Have been very crafty lately...FINALLY! Here's some Valentine magnets I made for my family - they each got a handmade card with a ultrasound picture of Baby 'D' and a matching magnet.

Then...my Mom, Amanda (sister) and Leah (sister-in-law) went for a soapmaking class on Bowen with Laurel of Naked Soapworks. I have been doing some design work for Laurel, and as a trade, I got to give the ladies in my family soap lessons! It was FANTASTIC! I never realized what a precise job soap making is...very interesting and fun!

We made the soap bars in plastic drawer organizers. Lavendar (the white that is still in container) and Tea Tree/Eucalyptus - they are both made with 100% natural ingredients and smell amazing!

I cut mine up in both large and slightly smaller pieces - they'll make beautiful gifts.

I love the rough edges.
And for those of you out east that were laughing at us during our snowy cold wet spell - well HA HA jokes on you now!! When the sun shines on the ocean, trees and mountains, it makes the dark, cold winter so worth while. Our buds are starting to come up, the air smells amazing and spring is definitely right around the corner. Oh how I love living in our little corner of paradise!

View from our deck

My office bathed in natural light - certainly makes it hard to concentrate on my projects at hand!
About a year ago, I was preparing to start my mass sock monkey production for the summer market. I primarily use socks from thet Gap, so I decided to try contacing the Gap and showing them pictures of my sock creations to see if I could get any free socks out of them since I am promoting their product.
Anyways, was unsuccessful...they did say they loved my sock monkeys and thought it was a clever promo idea but that was about it.
WELL...Saturday I was in the Gap and what do I find displayed all over the store...SOCK MONKEYS!! They now sell sock monkeys made from all their new socks!! Seems a little ironic don't you think?!
Oh oh...one track baby brain kicking in again... can't wait to put socks on this little foot!

Last night, Geoff and I went for a 3D Ultrasound...and what an AMAZING experience!! At first Baby 'D' wasn't cooperating, but after some gentle nudges from me, he/she decided to move around and let us see it's GORGEOUS little face!
Baby 'D' is 31 weeks 3 days old - only 8/9 weeks to go!! Can't wait to kiss those chubby cheeks!!
Oh...and we have the gender results sealed in an envelope that we're going to open on Valentine's Day...can't wait!!
Well...our house building venture is on hold AGAIN! We were scheduled to pour the concrete last Saturday, only to find that the house forms have been placed in the wrong spot!! Apparently we are 10 inches into the setback on our property...not even over on the neighbours property...our own property!! I don't know how this happened - although I do know that there was a marker placed on the neighbours property by the surveyor which should have been removed after the survey was complete. Anyways, it's the most visual marker on the site, and was used for a lot of the measurements...only to then find out, that it's about a foot and a half over on the next property which caused us to be into our setback.
Now we are once again at the mercy of the muncipality to say whether or not we can move forward...gggrrrrrrrrr!!!

I have to admit...that marker certainly is an eye catcher, and I can see how it could be mistaken for the property marker!
Happy New Year Everyone!! Well...I know December is a busy month, but this year was a little too much for me! I visited relatives in Toronto for a week at the beginning of the month, then had to start packing as soon as I got back in order to move into my parents little cottage on Bowen Island, then on top of that, we had major plumbing problems in the new place (the entire plumbing had to be redone!!) plus several power outages, deadlines to be finished, Christmas shopping to do, and I had no internet sevice from December 11th to this morning...UGH!!! Well, the move finally happed this weekend, and as soon as I get everything unpacked, I will post some pictures of our super cute, super tiny little space. Even though it's small, it's feels so nice to have our own space again and the view is spectacular!! We also get tons and tons of bright sunshine spilling into the space which is something I have missed tremendously when living in the basement suite...am feeling very motivated and excited for 2007!!
Here's the belly progress - to date, Baby 'D' is 27 weeks and one day...ONLY TWELVE MORE WEEKS TO GO!!!

Where have my feet gone...I could have sworn I had a pair?!?

Oh...never mind there they are!!
Wow...between the power outages, ferry breakdowns, snow snow and more snow, it's amazing I've still managed to meet all my deadlines (well...almost all) for Studio 947! I leave on Saturday for Toronto for a week, and then start moving into my parent's little cottage when I get back...oh and somehow, I'm fitting Christmas in there too!!
Here's some pics of our winter wonderland

Boats buried in snow - they're not going anywhere soon!

Our little snow angel - she's loving this weather!

Trapped snow balls

Barely holding on...

'The Lagoon' ocean on the right, fresh water on the left. Just last week, Maple and I were watching the salmon swimming through the lagoon in the glorious sunshine!

Our little village is buried.
Oh man...I am having craft withdrawl!! It seems I just can't get motivated enough these days to pull all my 'stuff' out of the wardrobe and then proceed to cover every available surface in our little tiny apartment we're renting while our house is being built. I tried to make baby booties for a friend of mine that had twins last month but after trying several times to get them both the same size I finally gave up in a fit of frustration and threw everything back in the wardrobe while cursing the entire time!! Oh the drama!!
I have been trying to finish a scarf for my Dad who's birthday was in SEPTEMBER...rotten rotten daughter!! But my stupid carpel tunnel has been a hundred times worse these days - not sure if it has anything to do with being pregnant or if it's because of all the computer work I've been doing recently.
Presently, I am trying to come up with ideas for the Studio 947 Christmas Card that I would like to get printed next week and sent out as we are already in November...YIKES!!
Tomorrow is the big ultrasound - can't wait! I kinda want to wait until the baby's born to be surprised if it's a boy or girl but my husband is dying to know right this instant. So we'll see if the baby is shy or not tomorrow!
